The United States of America is now allowing non- essential visitors from Canada by reopening its border from November 1st.
Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of Homeland Security announced that travelers from Mexico and Canada will be admitted into the country only if they are vaccinated. The land and sea ports entry will be opened.
According to a government media release, Mayorkas stated that, “In alignment with the new international air travel system that will be implemented in November, we will begin allowing travelers from Mexico and Canada who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to enter the United States for non-essential purposes, including to visit friends and family or for tourism, via land and ferry border crossings.”
He further added that “Cross-border travel creates significant economic activity in our border communities and benefits our broader economy. We are pleased to be taking steps to resume regular travel in a safe and sustainable manner.”
The reopening is supposed to take place in two phases. The travelers are required to exhibit proof of vaccination, from November if they want to enter the U.S by either land or port. Those who have not taken vaccine doses against COVID-19 will not be permitted. The vaccination should be completed comprising of both doses.
The first phase starts from November, while the second phase will initiate in January 2022. All essential, non-essential, skilled workers would have to be completely vaccinated with both doses in order to cross the border. People who want to work, study even healthcare workers shall have to produce a proof of vaccination among other documents.
Till now, now particular dates have been set aside that announce the dates of these new travel policies.
