The Atlantic province of Canada, Prince Edward Island, has invited 113 candidates in the latest EOI draw. The province issued invitations to candidates through the following three categories:
- Express Entry
- Business Impact
- Labor Impact
PEI invited 101 candidates through Labor Impact and Express Entry streams. And the rest 12 invitations went to candidates belonging to the Business Impact category. For this category, candidates required at least 60 points.
The province of Prince Edward Island has conducted six draws so far. Through these six draws, the province has issued 905 invitations to apply for provincial nomination. Out of the 905 invitations, most of them went to Labor Impact and Express Entry candidates and the remaining 89 to Business Impact candidates.
Although the immigration levels have dropped in Canadian provinces, the federal government has set higher immigration targets for 2021. Canada is likely to welcome 80,800 new immigrants through Provincial Nominee Programs this year.
The province invited candidates through the following three categories:
Express Entry Category
Every PNP has an express entry aligned stream. The Express Entry System accepts immigration applications through the three major economy-class programs: Canadian Experience Class, Foreign Skilled Worker, and Foreign Skilled Trades.
To get a provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island, express entry candidates have to create an Expression of Interest profile separately for the PEI PNP.
Then, the province issues invitations to high-scoring candidates in the PEI’s points grid.
In the latest draw, PEI did not disclose the minimum EOI score that was needed to receive an invitation.
Labor Impact Category
If foreign nationals have a job offer from an employer based in PEI, they can apply through the Labor Impact Category. There are three streams in this category – International Graduate, Skilled Worker, and Critical Worker.
Business Impact Category
PEI has invited 12 candidates through the Business Impact Category. These candidates required a minimum score of 60 only. Further, the candidates invited were foreign entrepreneurs who were a part of the Work Permit Stream and who wanted to start their business in PEI
