On August 11th, Ontario invited 48 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.
The second-ever In-Demand stream draw has been held by Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The recent system of Expression of Interest (EOI) has replaced the previous first-come-first-serve model, which allows the interested candidates to register any time to receive Ontario PNP invitation.
You don’t need a score requirement for this draw. The candidates need to be eligible for the In-demand Skills stream and should have job offers from the list of certain occupations under The National Occupational Classification (NOC) code.
What is In-Demand Skills Stream
The In-Demand Stream programs concentrate more on occupation skill level demand by the provinces. Immigration programs mainly focus on jobs that have been labeled as “high skilled” by the government. Although Ontario still has a vacancy for jobs that have been defined as “low skilled”.
The international workers who have a job offer in Ontario are eligible to apply for a nomination with a work experience of nine months in the province in the past three years. Seasonal work experience is not acceptable to meet the work requirement. Although part-time work would be available to employees who have the required number of work hours needed.
Work hours should be 1,200 hours of paid employment in a single job for over 18 months. Employees who have been working in multiple jobs would require at least 30 hours per week over nine months with a total of 1,200 hours.
There is another eligibility requirement as well. Candidates also need a high school education and a language score of at least 4 in all proficiencies, settlement funds, and other requirements.
Scoring points for Ontario immigration
The EOI profiles are based on several human capital factors set by Ontario to select immigrants who have the potential to be successful. The candidates score points for the skill level of the job offer as well as their Canadian working experience.
The scoring system for OINP is different depending on the stream the candidate wants to apply for. Apart from skill level and their work experience, it also considers your wage, education, official language ability, and the region where you work and study. 10 points have been allocated as discretion in response to the labour market needs.
