In a new Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program draw, the province has invited 940 immigration candidates to secure a provincial nomination.
TFWs (Temporary foreign workers) and international students who have created their profiles in Ontario’s new Expression of Interest system received invitations.
The province of Ontario has invited candidates registered under the Employer Job Offer immigration category. The OINP issued 569 invitations under the Foreign Worker Stream. Applicants with an EOI score of 38 or higher were eligible through this stream. The province did not put the requirement of any specific location or targeted occupations.
And rest of the 371 candidates received invitations through the International Student Stream with an EOI score requirement of at least 66.
Foreign Worker Stream
The Employer Job Offer category of the OINP manages the Foreign Worker Stream. This stream is open to foreign workers who have work opportunities in Ontario. A candidate doesn’t have to apply to this stream from within Canada. Candidates can submit an application from their home country if they qualify for the program.
Some basic eligibility requirements for this stream include 2 years of work experience, a valid job offer, and an intention to live in Ontario.
International Student Stream
Candidates can apply for the International Student Stream if they have a job offer in an eligible occupation.
They should have completed their academic program from a CDLI (Canadian Designated Learning Institution). To register for this stream, applicants must create an EOI profile online. Then, they will receive a score based on the province’s human capital factors and labor market needs of the province.
How does Ontario score candidates?
When you register your profile in the Expression of Interest pool of the OINP, you get a score based on your job offer, work experience, education, language ability, your wage, the place where you studied or worked, among other factors.Ontario uses the National Occupational Classification system to give points to applicants. The scoring depends upon the immigration stream through which the candidate registers in the pool.
