Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), a Provincial Nominee Program, is an initiative by the federal government of Manitoba, supported by the government of Canada, to select immigrants who fit the labour gaps of their province. If you have a skill that matches the jobs they have available or the labor-market of Manitoba, you have a chance to be nominated by this program and become a permanent resident of Canada. How to apply for Manitoba provincial nominee program (MPNP)?

The MPNP has under it 3 streams. Each stream has pathways under it. To apply for citizenship and immigration to Canada and permanent residence in Manitoba using these programs, you must qualify for at least one of the pathways. This may be your chance to fulfill your dream of living in Canada and gaining Canadian citizenship.  There are pathways specifically designed for international students and foreign workers. The streams, their pathways, and the qualification criteria of these are discussed below. 

Skilled Worker Stream

If you had a job in Canada or previously worked in Manitoba as a skilled worker, or are currently working in Manitoba under a temporary work visa, you can apply for Canadian permanent residency through this stream. Find out whether you fulfill the eligibility criteria for any of these pathways. 

1. Skilled Workers in Manitoba

This stream can help you fulfill your dream of living in Canada if you have a long term employment offer from your employer in Manitoba. You should be qualified for the job including training, education and have the required certification or license. You must prove language proficiency as per the Canadian Language Benchmark standards. You must have a connection with Manitoba stronger than with any other province of Canada. You must have a Settlement Plan which outlines your desire to live and work in Manitoba with you and your family as permanent residents. 

2. Skilled Workers Overseas

To qualify for this stream, you must have worked for an employer-based in Manitoba for at least 6 months. You must also have a letter of reference signed by this employer. You must also have a work permit. If you attended a training program or completed your education in Manitoba as an international student, you can submit your application through this stream. To prove this, you will have to submit your study permit, transcripts from your training center or educational institution, and certificate or diploma or degree you received at the end of your program. 

International Education Stream

If you fall into the category of international students and got your degree from Manitoba, this stream can help you immigrate to Canada, gain Canadian citizenship and permanent resident status. 

1. Career Employment Pathway

If you graduated from a designated post-secondary educational institution in Manitoba in the last three years, this stream is for you. You must have scored a minimum of 7 CLB on your language test. You must also have a job offer to work full time in Manitoba from an eligible employer.  You can prove your adaptability to the program if you are residing in Manitoba at the time you submit your application.

2. Graduate Internship Pathway

If you completed your master’s or doctoral degree from Manitoba in the last 3 years, you can be eligible for this stream. You must have a score of CLB 7 on your language test. You can also apply if you completed an internship in an eligible industry in Manitoba. You must either be employed in Manitoba or submit proof of financial stability for the next 6 months at the time of submitting your application.

3. International Student Entrepreneur Pilot

As a part of this application process, you need to have your business plan ready which you would submit in the application. In accordance with your Business Performance Agreement, before nomination, you must have held a senior manager post for 6 months in Manitoba. During this time, your temporary work permit must be valid. You can also be an owner of 51% of a business.

Business Investor Stream

If you have experience as a business owner or a farm owner, you can apply through this stream for immigration and citizenship in Canada. Learn about your eligibility to apply through the pathways under this stream. 

1. Entrepreneur Pathway

If you have a minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience in the last five years this stream is for you. Either a senior management role or an active business owner role is a must for this pathway. Your Business Plan must be ready. You mention the same in your application. This must create a minimum of one job for Manitoba permanent residents. You and your spouse or business partner must have scored 5 CLB in your language proficiency test.

2. Farm Investor Pathway

If you have a minimum of three years of experience as a farm owner or operator, this stream is for you. This stream considers proficiency in Canadian languages important for adaptability. Your entry interview will be conducted in English or French. You must establish a farm in the rural areas of Manitoba province. You would need to submit a farm business plan in the application. Apart from Manitoba, the other provinces such as British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Alberta, Yukon, Prince Edward Island, and Ontario, all have their own provincial nominee programs. If Manitoba isn’t the province for you, you can check the eligibility criteria of the streams of programs of all these provinces. The province of Quebec has a different program to nominate applicants for Canadian citizenship and a resident visa or permanent Canadian residence.   Choose wisely.  Quickly check if you are qualifying for the application process according to the standards set by the Canadian Immigration Law since the applications are few and opportunities and many!
