Another Canadian Province, Manitoba, held a provincial nominee draw this month. The province has invited 226 candidates to apply for Manitoba Provincial Nomination. The invitees include express entry candidates, skilled workers, and international graduates.
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued invitations to candidates through the following three streams:
In times of economic turndown, Manitoba requires skilled workers for economic development and the creation of businesses. To maintain stable economic growth, it needs to invite several numbers of new immigrants through the regularly held Expression of Interest draw.
Out of the total 226 Invitations issued by the MPNP, 29 were for individuals who had a profile in the express entry pool.
A candidate needs to submit an Expression of Interest with the Manitoba PNP if he/she is applying for a provincial nomination. In order to submit an EOI, the candidate is required to answer a set of questions.
After this, an online profile of the candidate will be created. On the basis of this EOI profile, the candidate will be ranked according to the score he/she obtains from a total of 1000. Points are given on the basis of education, language proficiency, connections to Manitoba and work experience. Candidates with high scores are ultimately given invitations by the province of Manitoba.
No. of skilled workers invited: 168
Score of the lowest-ranked candidate: 496
This immigration stream is for those candidates who already have a job offer in Manitoba. Foreign workers with a decent skill set are invited by the province to apply for Manitoba provincial nomination. However, in order to apply under this stream, a candidate should be working in Manitoba.
No. of Invitations issued: 20
International Education Stream (IES) is dedicated especially to recent graduates. It provides a platform for them to settle in Manitoba permanently.
IES provides three pathways for a student to apply for a provincial nomination:
No. of skilled workers overseas invited: 38
Score of the lowest-ranking candidate: 714
Candidates who are working abroad can apply for MPNP through the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. Those individuals who have a strong connection with Manitoba have a greater chance of receiving an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination through this stream. The connection can be in terms of education, previous work experience in Manitoba, or close family ties.
Please note: If a candidate is applying through the skilled worker overseas stream, it is not mandatory for him/her to be physically present in Manitoba while submitting an application. He/She can apply from any part of the world.
No. of candidates invited: 29
Candidates who have profiles in the express entry pool are invited by the province of Manitoba to apply for a provincial nomination. Candidates can apply to express entry system through the three major economy class programs- Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker, and Federal Skilled Trades.
Candidates who successfully secure a provincial nomination from Manitoba receive 600 additional points. This will make them secure a guaranteed Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next express entry draw.
