Provincial Nominee programs (PNPs) offered by the provinces and territories of Canada are the best means to immigrate to Canada. Through PNPs, candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination.
The province of Manitoba launched the Provincial Nominee Program in 2014. Last week, Manitoba held its 100th PNP draw. It has invited a total of 191 candidates to submit an application for a provincial nomination.
Manitoba has invited around 3,862 immigration candidates so far in 2020 through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program.
As per the latest update, Manitoba has granted Letters of advice to apply (LAAs) to 191 candidates. The invitations issued by the province of Manitoba are referred to as LAAs.
In the draw held on October 8, candidates were invited through the three major immigration streams of the MPNP.
The distribution of the invitees in each stream is given as:
|Stream||Number of Invitations||Score of Lowest Ranked Candidate|
|1) Skilled Workers in Manitoba||152||528|
|2) International Education Stream||25||–|
|3) Skilled Workers Overseas||14||611|
Among the 191 LAAs issued, 20 went to the Express Entry candidates.
Apart from the three immigration streams of MPNP, Manitoba regularly invites candidates from the Express Entry system as well. Candidates who have profiles in the express entry pool are invited by Manitoba to apply for a provincial nomination.
Individuals who get a provincial nomination from Manitoba will receive 600 additional points in their CRS score.
Please Note: In order to be eligible for the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program, Express Entry candidates must possess a valid Express Entry ID, job seeker validation code, and legitimate work experience. The candidates are also required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).
This immigration stream is for those candidates who already have a job offer in Manitoba. Foreign workers with a decent skill set are invited by the province to apply for Manitoba provincial nomination. However, in order to apply under this stream, a candidate should be working in Manitoba.
International Education Stream (IES) is meant for recent graduates. This stream provides a platform for the graduates to settle in Manitoba permanently.
IES gives three pathways to a student to apply for a provincial nomination:
Candidates who are working abroad can apply for MPNP through the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. Those individuals who have a strong connection with Manitoba have a greater chance of receiving an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination through this stream. The connection can be in terms of education, previous work experience in Manitoba, or close family ties.
Please note: If a candidate is applying through the skilled worker overseas stream, it is not mandatory for him or her to be physically present in Manitoba while submitting an application. He or she can apply from any part of the world.
