Canada has announced that it will create several new immigration programs, especially for Hong Kong residents. The government of Canada wants to increase immigration from Hong Kong and thus, it has already started the creation of new immigration pathways such as the open work permit.
The Open Work Permit was launched on February 8 this year. Through this program, the youth from Hong Kong can work in Canada for any employer. And they can remain in Canada for three years and gain Canadian work experience which will help them to get a Permanent Residency.
Hong Kong residents who are presently living in Canada can apply online for an open work permit. It is not mandatory for them to leave the country in order to apply for this immigration program.
Also, Canada has announced another program that will grant PR to Hong Kong residents who qualify the requirements of the program. In the coming months, the IRCC will soon release the detailed requirements.
Furthermore, Canada has intended to create a special immigration program for Hong Kong students who have graduated from Canadian post-secondary institutions.
Moreover, the federal government has allocated separate resources to speed up the process for permanent residence applications of Hongkongers. And Canada will also temporarily waive the processing fee for residents of Hongkong who are willing to extend their stay. The government is actively taking some new measures to attract students from Hong Kong.
Canada and Hong Kong have significant ties with each other and there is a large number of Hong Kong communities living in the Toronto Metropolitan and Great Vancouver areas.
The Immigration Minister of Canada believes that the launch of more immigration pathways will support Canada and Hong Kong to deepen their strategic ties.
