Canada has now announced to resume the online citizenship test. Due to the coronavirus crisis, the IRCC had to cancel all citizenship tests. More than 85,000 people are waiting to take their citizenship test so that they can be a Canadian citizen and have their rights.
The IRCC has decided to offer online tests to citizenship applicants. The online citizenship tests will be provided to those candidates first whose tests were previously canceled due to the pandemic concerns. And then the candidates who are already on the waiting list might be called to take the online test.
Citizenship candidates who will be invited to take online tests must confirm their identity by submitting their personal information. Before the commencement of the online test, candidates will have to take a picture of themselves as well as their ID documents with the help of a webcam.

Applicants will get 21 days to complete the online citizenship test. They are allowed to take the citizenship test at any time according to their convenience.
The online test system will monitor the performance of the candidates by taking photos of the test-takers during the test. The IRCC has been trying for some time to modernize the citizenship program and taking the online test is one of the parts of this initiative.
The IRCC will test the functioning of this new platform in the upcoming months. Once the ministry is satisfied with the performance and reliability of the online test platform, it will invite more candidates to take the test in the coming year.
