The western province, Alberta, conducted a draw on January 22, 2020, and issued 201 invitations to candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. The candidates required a CRS score of 350 and above in order to secure an invitation by Alberta in this draw. A week later, a new invitation round was held by the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) on January 29th. One of the striking features about this draw is that 150 express entry candidates with a cut-off score of merely 300 received Invitations to apply for a provincial nomination.What is the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) ?
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is dedicated to the western province of Canada, Alberta. It allows the province to issue an Alberta provincial nomination certificate to prospective candidates who meet the skills and work experience required by the province’s labour market.AINP nominates candidates through the following streams:
- Alberta Express Entry Stream
- Alberta Opportunity Stream
- Alberta Self-Employed Farmer Stream

In the latest draw, an applicant who had a profile in the federal Express Entry pool received an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination by the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). Each province prefers to select candidates with the right skills required for their economy. Likewise, each province has its own preference for the selection of candidates.Following candidates are preferred by the AINP:
- Candidates who have a job offer in Alberta
- Candidates with genuine work experience
- Who has a degree from a Canadian post-secondary academic institution
- Who has a parent, child or sibling living in Alberta
